Otto Wagner Church, Vienna

The Otto Wagner Church is an outstanding testimony of European architectural history.

It is undergoing its first major refurbishment since its erection over 100 years ago, a process that requires considerable skills from the engineering consultants, architects, historical experts and craftsmen involved. Working within strict financial limitations, their technological innovations must remain invisible to the eye, in order to preserve the identity and patrimony of the building. The jury of the 2007 Austrian Consulting Prize nominated this project for a “special prize”. The jury appreciated the complexity of this project, and the choice of building materials and techniques used, which were at the same time innovative whilst preserving the character and authenticity of the building.
