EIB calls on consultancies to bring in professional expertise and experience in projects outside the EU
Over 130 participants attended the fourth EIB-EFCA-FEACO seminar, held in Brussels on 28 June 2007. This seminar, dedicated to the European Investment Bank’s lending activities outside the European Union, provided a unique forum to European consultancies interested in embracing business opportunities through EIB activities in all regions of the world.
The EIB underlined not only the broad geographic area of its support, but also the growth potential of these markets and their need for assistance to optimise project identification and implementation.
The consultancies’ work for the EIB covers the whole range of environmental and social impact assessment of proposed projects, feasibility studies, economic viability studies, procurement strategies etc. Another component of technical assistance relates to capacity building of the financial sector and the institutions.
Raphaël Zayat (COWI Belgium) brought a thought-provoking presentation on experiences with working on projects supported by EIB. Positive comments related to the EIB’s transparency, effectiveness and professionalism, the flexibility of Terms of Reference, and result-oriented approach.
EIB expert speakers took the floor to explain the specific assignments, core sectors, financing instruments and sources in the various regions.
