EFCA's latest report follows a pioneering experiment to use AI for scenario planning in consulting engineering, with a particular focus on transportation and climate adaptation. The Future Trends Committee led this initiative in collaboration with the Philipps University of Marburg and Bentley and Autodesk, major software suppliers to the sector, also joined, to work with students and leaders.
The partners explored how large language models (LLMs) like ChatGPT can refine scenario planning, which is traditionally reliant on extensive human capital, to anticipate future uncertainties more efficiently. This edition of the Future Trends Report underscores AI's potentially huge role in transforming scenario planning, positioning generative AI as a vital tool for consulting engineers navigating an increasingly dynamic and complex world.
