Sector reacts to call for evidence on water efficiency

Referring to its position paper on a Blue Deal, published in January 2024, EFCA submitted its response to the latest call for evidence earlier this week. Commending the inclusion of the Water Resilience Strategy in the Commission Work Programme for 2025, EFCA also cites the recent report from the European Parliament Rapporteur Thomas Bajada, saying that this provides a "...strong foundation for policy development and implementation." Highlighting nature-based solutions, AI and public procurement as some of the ways to deliver water efficiency, the role of consulting engineers is also emphasised. Finally, the collaboration of key stakeholders, through the European Water Resilience Coalition demonstrates the need for a multi-stakeholder approach, which must include local, regional and national authorities.
